Tommy’s Story – The Journey to Tommy’s Amp Camp 💛
A Life-Changing Diagnosis…
Almost 13 years ago, Tommy’s life changed forever. At just 5 months old, he contracted meningitis, which led to septicemia. The devastating result? Tommy became a quadruple amputee.
For the past 13 years, Tommy, his mom Julie, and their family have faced every challenge imaginable—countless hospital visits, physiotherapy, accessibility battles, and an ongoing fight for the right support. But despite everything, they have never given up.
The Moment Everything Changed – Amp Camp Kids
In February 2025, Tommy and Julie were given an incredible opportunity—an invitation to attend Amp Camp Kids in Tenerife. This life-changing retreat was founded by Ben & Laura Lovell, and 2025 was supported by Adam & his son Luke, another quadruple amputee, to bring together families who had experienced meningitis and sepsis-related limb loss.
Julie had no idea what to expect when they arrived. But what happened next was unforgettable. For the first time, Tommy and other children like him were surrounded by people who truly understood their journey. The experience was empowering, emotional, and life-changing.
It wasn’t just Julie and Tommy who went, Dad (Dean) and our younger daughter Jorgie went on the experience too.
For Tommy, it was a moment of realisation—he wasn’t the only one whose life had been changed by this deadly disease. There were other children, even adults, who had walked a similar path.
For Julie and Dean, it was the first time they truly felt understood. We spoke to families who had been through exactly what we have, who knew the struggles without needing an explanation.
And for Jorgie, it was just as powerful. She met other siblings who, like her, lived a different kind of life than most 9-year-olds. She saw that she wasn’t alone in her journey either.
This experience changed us all.
Julie’s Mission – Making This Happen for More Families💛
When Julie returned home, she knew she had to do something. She couldn’t let this experience end with just one trip. She wanted to create a dedicated Tommy’s Amp Camp so that more families could attend every year.
She reached out to Liam & Thomas from Everlasting Luck to see if they could donate a little to help start the fundraising. But instead, Liam & Thomas made a BIGGER decision.
They committed to raising the full £20,000 needed to make this happen.
HOW IT ALL COME TOGETHER💛
Tuesday, 25th February 2025 – Julie reached out to Liam & Thomas with her idea.
SAME DAY – Liam & Thomas decided Everlasting Luck would be the main sponsor & lead fundraiser for Tommy’s Amp Camp.
Wednesday, 26th February 2025 – Liam reached out to Ben & Laura Lovell from Amp Camp.
Thursday, 27th February 2025 – Liam arranged a video call with Ben & Laura, which was a massive success!
Friday, 29th February 2025 – Ben & Laura confirmed that the villa is available for 7th March 2026.
💛 And just like that, Everlasting Luck turned an idea into a movement.
The Mission – Raising £20,000 for Tommy’s Amp Camp
Now, Everlasting Luck & the GiveBack Movement are committed to making Tommy’s Amp Camp a reality.
✅ £20,000 fundraising goal – every penny goes to funding the camp.
✅ Everlasting Luck is covering flights for all attending families as an additional donation.
✅ Julie & Tommy will invite other amputee families across the UK to join this life-changing experience.
